11 jokes, all of them clean
School jokes run on subjects — maths, homework, books, teachers. Most of them are about numbers being nervous or books being unhappy, and they are aimed squarely at somebody between 6 and 12.
Why was the math book sad? It had too many problems.
Why did the student eat his homework? The teacher said it was a piece of cake.
Why is 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 8 9.
What's a teacher's favorite nation? Expla-nation.
Why did the kid bring a ladder to school? To reach high school.
Why did the music teacher need a ladder? To reach the high notes.
What did the pencil say to the paper? "Write on!"
Why was the geometry class always tired? They were out of shape.
What's the king of all school supplies? The ruler.
Why did the clock get detention? It tocked too much.
Why did the chicken cross the playground? To get to the other slide.
Numbers make good characters
Why is 6 afraid of 7 works because it treats digits as people with motives, and then the punchline is just arithmetic said out loud. That move — giving a personality to something abstract, then resolving it with a literal fact — is the engine on most of this page. A sad maths book with too many problems is the same trick. Problem means 2 things and one of them is emotional.
For the drop-off and the lunchbox
These are notes-in-a-lunchbox jokes. Short enough to fit on a scrap of paper, clean enough for a classroom, and pitched at the exact age where a kid will repeat it to 4 friends and claim they made it up. If you want a joke your kid will actually use, take one from here rather than from the fandom pages.
The one to actually use
Why 6 is afraid of 7. It is the joke that teaches children that words can mean 2 things, and for a lot of people it is genuinely the first one that ever landed. Ate and 8 is a perfect match, the maths is correct, and it takes 5 words. Nothing else on this page is that efficient. The ladder to reach high school is the runner up and works on a slightly older kid.
