Summer
17 jokes, all of them clean
Summer jokes are the most physical on the site. Heat, water, sunburn, melting. The comedy comes from things being ruined by temperature, which is a subject everybody has firsthand experience of and nobody needs explained.
Why did the ice cream truck break down? Rocky road.
What do you call a snowman in July? A puddle.
What did the beach say when the tide finally came in? "Long time no sea."
Why do bananas wear sunscreen? Because they peel.
What did the ocean say to the beach? Nothing, it just waved.
Why don't oysters share their toys? They're shellfish.
What's the best day to go to the beach? Sun-day.
Why did the robot go on summer vacation? He needed to recharge his batteries.
What do frogs eat in the summer? Hopsicles.
How do you prevent a summer cold? Catch it in the winter.
Why did the sun go to school? To get a little brighter.
What holds the sun up in the sky? Sunbeams.
Why do fish love summer vacation? They're in schools the rest of the year.
What did the pig say on the hot summer day? "I'm bacon out here."
What do sheep do on sunny days? Have a baa-baa-cue.
Where do sharks go on vacation? Finland.
What do you call a dog on the beach in summer? A hot dog.
Melting is the whole engine
A snowman in July is a puddle. That joke needs no wordplay at all — it is just a fact stated at the right moment. A good chunk of this page runs that way, which makes it unusual here. Where the puns do show up they lean on beach words that already double: waves, peel, shore, current. Bananas wearing sunscreen because they peel is the tidiest one on the page.
Works on anybody, anywhere hot
No franchise, no holiday, no calendar date beyond roughly June to August. That makes summer the widest-reaching seasonal page here. If you need 1 joke for a group of strangers at a cookout and you do not know a thing about them, this is the safest page on the site to open.
The one to actually use
What the beach said when the tide came in. It is the only joke here that requires you to know a common phrase rather than a fact, and it is a cleaner match than any of the melting ones. The snowman in July is the more quoted joke and it is not really a joke, it is a fact delivered flatly. Both work. This one works on more people.
