Work

10 jokes, all of them clean

Work jokes are the driest page on the site. Getting fired from the calendar factory, a can crusher quitting, programmers and dark mode. Less groan, more the kind of thing somebody says flatly in a meeting and 1 person laughs.

The joke is the resignation

A lot of these have the same shape: somebody quits or gets fired, and the reason is a pun on their job. It is a tidier structure than it looks, because the job supplies the vocabulary and the firing supplies the story. Soda pressing needs you to know what a can crusher does, and that is the only setup required. No character, no scene, 8 words.

Safe for a work chat, mostly

Nothing here is about a boss, a salary or a coworker, which is deliberate — those are the work jokes that get forwarded to the wrong person. What is left is puns about the job itself. The dark mode one is the highest hit rate in any office with developers in it, and lands on nobody outside one.

The one to actually use

Elevator jokes. It is the only joke on this page that is about jokes, and the pun is exact — an elevator literally works on levels. It also has the useful property of being safe in any workplace, because it is about a machine rather than a person. The too weak notice one is the better pun and requires you to hear it rather than read it, so it is useless in a work chat.

Every joke is read by a human before it goes up. Keep it clean — PG-13 at the very edgiest.
