18 jokes, all of them clean
Superhero jokes have the widest reach of any fandom topic here. You do not need to have read a comic. 20 years of films mean the average person can name a dozen heroes and their 1 defining trait, and 1 defining trait is all a pun needs.
How does Wolverine pay for dinner? Cash. Cards keep getting shredded.
Why doesn't Batman go out during the day? He's not a morning person — he's a knight person.
What's Green Lantern's least favorite color? You already know — yellow.
What's Spider-Man's favorite month? Web-ruary.
Why did Doctor Strange miss the meeting? Something came up in another dimension.
How does Superman like his eggs? Sunny side up — he's powered by the sun.
Why does the Hulk have such a great garden? He has a green thumb. And green everything else.
What's Captain America's favorite exercise? Star jumps.
Why is Iron Man such a good businessman? He always suits up for meetings.
Why is Aquaman great at small talk? He keeps up with current events.
How does the Flash like his coffee? Espresso — extra fast.
What's Batman's favorite part of a joke? The punch line.
What do you call Thor when he loses his hammer? Thor-oughly upset.
Why did Spider-Man join the swim team? He's great at the web crawl.
Why doesn't anyone play hide and seek with Superman? He always sees through it.
What does Batman put in his drinks? Just ice.
What's the Thing's favorite game? Rock, paper, scissors. He always picks rock.
Why did Ant-Man get promoted? He's great with the small stuff.
One trait per hero is the whole setup
Batman is dark. Superman runs on the sun. Spider-Man makes webs. Every hero comes pre-loaded with a single quality everybody agrees on, so the joke never has to explain who anybody is. That is unusual — most topics burn half the setup establishing the premise. Here the setup is already in the listener's head before you open your mouth, and you go straight to the collision.
The safest fandom bet in a mixed room
If you are telling 1 joke to a group of strangers and you want a fandom one, take a superhero. The films have been unavoidable since 2008, so the odds that everybody in the room has the reference are better than for any other property on this site. Knight person and Web-ruary do not require anybody to have opinions about the comics.
The one to actually use
Batman putting just ice in his drinks. It is 2 words, it is a perfect homophone with justice, and Batman is the character everybody in the room can name. Those 3 things almost never line up. The Green Lantern one is funnier if you read comics and completely opaque if you do not, which makes it the exact joke to leave on the page rather than take to a dinner table.
